VACANCY:

SHIPPING ACCOUNTANT

The Shipping department requires the services of an experienced, attention to detail and well- organised individual to perform the Shipping Accountant function. This position requires a dynamic, flexible personality, who is able to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA:

- A relevant tertiary qualification

- 3 - 5 years' experience in an accounting or related position

- Previous experience in a shipping environment would be an advantage

- Current MS Excel, Word & Outlook competency at intermediate level

- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and work independently

- Able to handle multiple tasks and stay organized

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to

- Debtors and Creditors functions i.e. checking invoices, rates applied, payment of ocean freights, etc.

- Credit Control function i.e. following up and collection of foreign client's payments

- Captures, tracks and reconciles payment information

- Ensure timeous and accurate billing

- Provide support to management on financial and operational issues and reporting

- Perform other administrative duties that may fall outside the above

- Accurate and timeous financial reporting
